Plans for Newby Wiske Hall

Published: 20 July 2017

Name: David Stockport

Message: Dear Alec The reason I am contacting you is about the plans to develop Newby Wiske Hall following its sale to a firm called PGL Ltd who want to turn it into a childrens adventure training venue.   The plans will involve large scale re-development of the interior of the hall to take 550 children from 7 - 17 plus another 210 (15-17 yrs old) camping in tents on the football field during the summer months.   The parkland area will be developed with zip lines, giant swings (17 metre high), four-sided climbing/abseil towers (15 metres high|) and a total of 83 trees will be felled in the wood (23% of the total). I am writing in the hope that you will circulate this and that any members who trained there and have fond memories (or not so fond come to that) may be prompted to write an objection to what will amount to the destruction of a ,fine old building.   The planning applications can be found on Hambleton DC planning portal under the references 17/01285/FUL and 17/01286!
 /LBC.   Many thanks.  David
