Additional Information |
Im sad to report my father Ronald Cussons formerly PC489 of the North Riding / North Yorkshire Force died age 95 on Xmas Eve in Richmond. He was possibly the oldest surviving former officer (father of the force). He was called up at 18 in 1944 and saw action in Europe and policing Palestine. After a brief spell as a trainee
solicitor in Helmsley, he joined the North Riding force in 1951. He served in Whitby, Northallerton, Middleham, Strensall, Redcar and Richmond. He finished his career as Chief Inspector at Richmond during 1969 to 1981, serving with other senior officers such as Sid Marshall and Harry Thompson. His wife Betty died suddenly in 1983 shortly after he retired and he lived alone and independently in Richmond until this year when he suffered from heart failure.
Please copy this information as you see fit to retired officers.
Regards,
Stephen Cussons |
